BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS – Get ready to “Spring into a Healthy Future” with a community health fair, hosted by UTRGV School of Nursing students in Brownsville, April 9-10.
The nursing students, all UTRGV seniors, are coordinating the family-friendly fair as part of their service-learning community course. The fair offers free services, including screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index (BMI), along with personalized recommendations and teaching sessions.
“Spring into a Healthy Future” will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brownsville Public Library-Southmost Branch.
Educational resources will be available, with wellness sessions and a dedicated “Kid Zone” station to promote health education for participants of all ages. The Kid Zone will provide engaging activities and healthy snacks, and provides an opportunity for children to learn about nursing education.
In addition, healthcare posters will be displayed in both Spanish and English to ensure information is readily accessible to the community.
UTRGV School of Nursing faculty members will be on hand to provide support and guidance to the nursing students. The initiative underscores UTRGV’s commitment to community engagement and public health outreach.
