UTRGV Athletics Set for 15 Basketball Promotional Days
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday 15 promotional games throughout the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball seasons, starting with a basketball doubleheader on November 25 at 4 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
The party for every home game at the UTRGV Fieldhouse starts an hour before scheduled tipoff in Schlotzsky’s Vaquero Village.
During every game, one lucky fan will get be chosen to participate in each of the following promotions:
- Attempt a half-court shot for the chance to win a year’s supply of Church’s Texas Chicken.
- Attempt between one and four shots, including a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and half-court shot, for the chance to win escalating amount of money as part of the Rio Bank Money in the Bank contest.
- Identify the correct fry container in the Whataburger Fry Shuffle to win a Whataburger Gift Card.
Additionally, during Wingbarn’s “Get Loud for Wings” promotion, the loudest individual fan will win a Wingbarn gift card.
The loudest section during each Thursday home game will receive coupons for buy one, get one free box combos at Raising Cane’s on their way out as part of the Cane’s Challenge.
Season tickets, mini-plans, and single-game tickets can be purchased at UTRGVTickets.com. Current UTRGV students receive complimentary admission with a UTRGV student ID.
Mini-plan options include both 15-game packages for $99 and eight-game packages for $45.
Single-game tickets start at $6 for children ages 17 and under, $8 for current UTRGV faculty and staff as well as senior citizens (ages 65+), and $9 for adults purchasing general admission seating. Reserved seating is $8 for kids, $11 for senior citizens, $13 for all other fans in sections A, D and H and $16 for all other fans in sections B, C and G. Courtside seats are sold out.

- UTRGV Athletics is launching the Jr. Vaqueros Reading Program. Fans attending UTRGV home games are expected to comply with clear bag policy that can be found at GoUTRGV.com/ClearBag. Additionally, fans need to comply with the below camera policy:
Only credentialed personnel are permitted to use professional cameras at UTRGV athletic events.
Fans are prohibited from bringing professional cameras, including any camera with detachable or interchangeable lenses, camera lenses wider than the camera body, or a fixed lens that is six inches or larger into UTRGV Athletics venues. Fans are also prohibited from bringing camera bags, tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks into UTRGV Athletics facilities.
Personal handheld cameras, including those inside phones, are permitted. However, in no instance may photography interfere with access ways, seats, aisles, or other guests’ enjoyment of the game. Additionally, flash photography is strictly prohibited.
Fans are prohibited from selling any photos taken at UTRGV athletic events.
