MISSION— A solemn and honorable event will take place on Monday, February 10th, at 11:00 a.m. sharp, at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, where an Unaccompanied Veteran Burial will be conducted for U.S. Army Veteran Specialist 4th Class (SP4) Valente Leal.
Honoring SP4 Valente Leal
Born on April 4, 1954, SP4 Leal served his country from April 1972 to April 1975 and received the National Defense Service Medal in recognition of his dedication and sacrifice. Despite his service, SP4 Leal is not expected to have any next-of-kin present at his burial.
Answering the Call to Stand in Solidarity
We invite members of the Mission community and surrounding areas to join us in honoring SP4 Leal’s service and ensuring he is not buried alone. This is a powerful opportunity to show gratitude and respect to a fellow American who served with commitment and courage.
Military Honors and Tradition
SP4 Leal will receive full military honors during the ceremony. If no next-of-kin is present, a Veterans Land Board Representative will accept the United States flag on his behalf, upholding the tradition of respect and remembrance for our Veterans.
A Community of Support
The Texas Veterans Land Board collaborates with local communities and Veterans service organizations to ensure NO Veteran is EVER left behind. Your presence will make a meaningful impact, affirming that every service member is remembered and honored for their contributions to our nation.
