The Games Of Texas at Brownsville

The Games of Texas-Brownsville 2024 is gearing up to be an exciting event with an expanded lineup of sports and venues. The Parks and Recreation Department is actively seeking volunteers and sponsors to ensure the success of the event.

This year, the Games will feature a total of 16 sports, including the newly added volleyball, sand volleyball, kickball, and baseball, said Araceli Sandoval, athletic supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department. With venues spread across 10 different locations in Brownsville, there will be plenty of opportunities for athletes and spectators alike to enjoy the competition.

The sporting events will take place at the Brownsville Sports Park, the Brownsville Golf Center, the Brownsville Events Centers, and Veterans High School, just to name a few.

The goal is to register 8,000 athletes for the Games, making it a large-scale event that will require significant community support. Volunteers are essential for coordinating the various activities and ensuring smooth operations throughout the event.

“We need a lot of volunteers to help us put this event together and so we are out here trying to get support from our community by getting volunteers to help us during the Games of Texas, and then you can also help by sponsoring if you own a business or if you manage a business we can take sponsorships as well and then just come out and support the games,” Sandoval said.
