Tate brothers face rape and human trafficking charges in the UK

Andrew Tate, a controversial internet personality, and his brother Tristan Tate have been formally charged in the United Kingdom with multiple serious offenses, including rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm. The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed the charges on May 28, 2025, following an investigation by Bedfordshire Police.
Charges and Allegations
Andrew Tate, 38, faces a total of 21 charges; 10 charges involving three alleged victims. These charges include rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain. Tristan Tate, 36, faces 11 charges related to one alleged victim, encompassing similar offenses. The alleged incidents occurred between 2012 and 2015, prior to the brothers’ relocation to Romania in 2016.
In addition to the criminal charges, Andrew Tate is facing a civil lawsuit in the UK filed by four women, including two former employees of his Luton-based webcam business. The lawsuit alleges coercive control and rape, with a trial scheduled for early 2027.
Extradition and Legal Proceedings
The CPS authorized the charges in January 2024, and a European Arrest Warrant was subsequently issued. Romanian courts have approved the extradition of the Tate brothers to the UK; however, the extradition will occur only after the conclusion of their ongoing legal proceedings in Romania, where they face separate charges related to human trafficking and rape.
Both Andrew and Tristan Tate deny all allegations against them. Despite the serious charges, they have been permitted to travel and maintain an active online presence.
