South Padre Island Set for Dazzling End to Summer with Labor Day Weekend Full of Festivities and Fireworks

South Padre Island will officially close out a successful Summer 2025 season with an exhilarating Labor Day weekend, highlighted by a grand, 15-minute fireworks show over the waters of the Laguna Madre Bay on Sunday, August 31st at 9:15 pm.

“It has been an outstanding summer on South Padre Island, with strong growth in visitor traffic, hotel occupancy, and retail and dining sales,” said Blake Henry, Visit South Padre Island Executive Director. “What better way to celebrate than by enjoying a long, three-day weekend, capped off by one of the state’s largest fireworks shows. We look forward to welcoming guests from near and far to end the summer at what has been called the ‘Caribbean of Texas.’”

Labor Day weekend kicks off with dazzling fireworks on both Friday and Saturday, August 29–30. Enjoy bayside shows lighting up the Entertainment District each night, while Clayton’s on the Beach will host spectacular Gulf-side fireworks on both evenings as well.

On Sunday, August 31st, the end-of-season fireworks extravaganza will take place in the skies over Laguna Madre Bay. Beginning at 9:15 p.m., this fireworks show will be choreographed with festive music that can be heard while watching the display from the restaurants and bars located along the bay in the Entertainment District. Visitors will want to arrive early for what promises to be a spectacular display to officially end the summer season.
