Ralph Fiennes to play the ruthless President Snow in the ‘Hunger Games’ prequel

Los Angeles (USA) (EFE) – Ralph Fiennes will play the ruthless President Snow in the prequel “Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” Lionsgate’s adaptation of the legendary saga written by Suzanne Collins.
The American actor, known for portraying villains like Voldemort and recently Cardinal Lawrence in the acclaimed “Conclave,” will play the diabolical dictator of Panem in the next film in the legendary franchise, directed by Francis Lawrence, The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday.
This character was brought to life in the previous films, starring Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss Everdeen) and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark), thanks to Canadian star Donald Sutherland, who died last June at the age of 88.
Fiennes joins the cast led by Joseph Zada (Haymitch Abernathy) and Whitney Peak (Lenore Dove Baird), which also includes Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), it was announced this week.
This new installment of “The Hunger Games,” scheduled for release in November 2026, will return to the dystopian world of Panem 24 years before the beginning of the first book in the series, whose film adaptation starred Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss) and Hutcherson (Peeta Mellark).
The novel begins on the morning of the announcement of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. Haymitch Abernathy competed there, best known for mentoring Katniss and Peeta when they were chosen to represent District 12 in the 74th and 75th Hunger Games.
The first prequel, ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes,’ was released in November 2023 and grossed $337 million at the international box office, according to data published by The Hollywood Reporter. It was the first installment in the series without Lawrence and Hutcherson.
