Former President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer

Washington, (EFE) – Former United States President Joe Biden (2021-2025), 82, was diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer with bone metastases, his office announced in a statement on Sunday.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was examined for a new finding of a prostatic nodule after experiencing increased urinary symptoms,” the statement reads.
On Friday, “he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Group 5) with bone metastases,” it states.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, allowing for effective treatment,” it adds.
“The president and his family are reviewing different treatment options with their physicians,” it concludes.
Biden left the White House last January as the oldest US president in office.
During his tenure, there were questions about his fitness to continue in the position due to his age and health.
The Democrat dropped out of the reelection race in mid-2024 to instead support his vice president, Kamala Harris, who was defeated at the polls by Donald Trump.
In early 2024, Biden’s personal physician declared him fit to continue in the position following a physical examination.
In February 2023, Biden had a cancerous lesion in his chest removed in a successful operation, after which the then-White House physician assured that no further treatment was required.
