Pharr Unveils Lane Expansion at International Bridge
On Monday morning, the City of Pharr celebrated a significant milestone with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly expanded northbound lane and the second Border Safety Inspection Facility (BSIF) exit at the Pharr International Bridge. This event marks a key achievement in the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance trade and travel infrastructure, made possible through a successful collaboration with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Donations Acceptance Program (DAP).
The initiative aims to streamline cross-border movement and prepare for future growth, reflecting the city’s commitment to improving infrastructure. Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, M.D., expressed pride in the accomplishment, emphasizing the city’s dedication to innovative solutions and efficient collaboration. “Our administration has long prioritized infrastructure improvements and developments at the Pharr International Bridge, and we are proud to achieve these exciting milestones and see such proactive and innovative projects come to fruition,” said Hernandez.
By partnering with CBP’s DAP and investing in port of entry infrastructure, Pharr aims to enhance the efficiency of cross-border trade and travel, providing a smoother experience for all. The expansion is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce wait times, benefiting businesses and travelers alike.
The City of Pharr continues to demonstrate leadership in infrastructure development, setting a benchmark for other regions to follow. As the city moves forward, the successful completion of these projects symbolizes a brighter future for the community and its economic prospects.
