Over 6,000 Immigrants Declared as Dead

The Trump administration has declared over 6,000 living immigrants as dead, cancelling their Social Security numbers and stopping them from working or receiving benefits, according to a report by the Associated Press.

With this, Trump hopes to force immigrants to ‘self-deport’. By declaring living immigrants as dead, Trump makes it harder for immigrants to use banks or access other vital services that require Social Security Numbers.

Since Trump became president, he has worked tirelessly to remove legal status from hundreds of thousands of immigrants who entered under Joe Biden’s presidency.

The Washington Post reported that putting these immigrants on the ‘Death Master File’ is ‘aimed at putting pressure on the undocumented immigrants to leave the county.’

Once declared dead, immigrants are blocked by most employers, landlords, banks, and federal agencies, making it impossible to earn a living in the United States.

According to government documents, the first group of 6,300 living immigrants who have been declared dead include ‘convicted criminals and ”suspected terrorists”.’ The Washington Post and the New York Times report that the policy could most likely soon affect a larder number of undocumented migrants.

This move comes soon after the administration gained private information of taxpaying immigrants from IRS. Millions of undocumented migrants have been paying taxes for decades, which makes the repercussions of this unimaginable.
