It’s Time. The Trenton Transition Fund.

It’s Time. The Trenton Transition Fund.

The Palm Valley Animal Society Trenton Center is closing its doors after 51+ years of not only providing shelter to homeless animals, but also of bringing together their rescued animals with their future families.

As expected, this decision was not an easy one. After examining resourced and checking books, the decision of combining the Laurie P. Andrews Center on North 281 and the Trenton Center was made. While it may an emotional moment for all of us animal lovers, it is ultimately the best decision to maintain the utmost quality of care for their animals, which in the end is most important part of this.

So yes, the Palm Valley Animal Society Trenton Center is moving to the Laurie P. Andrews Center (2451 N Expressway 281, Edinburg)!

However, even after that hard decision, more are yet to come. They have been planning and meeting with architects, but the actual foundation for construction cannot start without the help of the community. Please consider making a contribution to the expansion of our Laurie Andrews facility at 2451 N Expressway 281, Edinburg, TX.

On a more personal note:

As most people from the Valley, the Trenton Center has always been a staple for me. I volunteered with them for my senior year of high school (community hours, am I right?), and fostered more newborn kittens than I care to admit (along with my sisters, I would have definitely not managed to have survived it alone). I have always had the misfortune/fortune of stumbling across lost or hurt animals, and the Trenton Center was always a safe place I knew I could go to get them help. I have even taken my fur baby to their community clinics for the past 13 years.

Since she was this small, back in 2012 to be exact.

To be completely honest, the Trenton Center has always been in the peripheral of my life, so while I am sad to find out they are closing their doors, I celebrate the fact that they will be joining the Laurie P. Andrews Center. That their animals will have a big, clean, climate-controlled space. So even if you cannot make a donation, please be sure to share the news with your friends, with your family, to give all these animals an even better chance. Every little bit you can do, helps.

And hey, if you have the opportunity to adopt, even better! Speaking from experience, adopting shelter animals is a blessing, not only for them, but for us as well. They really do complete our families.

Just look at these drama kings.

Why Trenton Is Closing

For 51 years, our Trenton shelter has provided second chances to thousands of animals. But today, the building is no longer safe—flooding, overcrowding, and failing infrastructure have made it unsustainable.

We’re moving every animal to the Laurie P. Andrews Center, where they’ll have access to clean, climate-controlled space, and a real chance at recovery.

But we can’t do it without you.

Donate Today & Save a Life Tomorrow

Every gift helps us give vulnerable animals the care, shelter, and second chances they deserve. Your support powers this transition from Trenton to a safer future—and ensures that no animal gets left behind.

Adopt or Foster a Pet

We need to reduce the number of animals in our care as we prepare to move. Adopting or fostering, even temporarily, helps us make space and ease the burden on our team.
