Hidalgo County Head Start and Donna ISD hosts Ribbon Cutting for Guzman Head Start Academy

DONNA – The Hidalgo County Head Start Program and Donna Independent School District (ISD) are proud to announce a Ribbon Cutting ceremony celebrating the grand opening of the Guzman Head Start Academy located at 510 Salinas Blvd in Donna on Friday, August 8 at 10 a.m.

The fully-staffed Academy was envisioned by the leadership of  Hidalgo County Head Start and Donna ISD as a one stop shop for county services.  The school district aimed to improve quality of life by providing families and children with access to high-quality education and essential services, including support from the Hidalgo County Health Department and the Hidalgo County Community Service Agency.

“We are excited to offer families in Donna with additional opportunities to enhance their children’s education and health,” said Hidalgo County Head Start Executive Director Irma Pena. “This campus will offer resources to 299 children in 16 classrooms, making this the largest campus the Head Start Program has ever had.”

The Academy offers:

·         16 Donna ISD state certified classroom Teachers

·         Two Discovery classrooms for STEM activities

·         Sensory classroom

·         Library

·         Computer lab

·         Central kitchen
