RGV College to Celebrate Graduation of Inaugural Registered Nurse Apprenticeship Cohort at DHR Health

RGV College, in partnership with DHR Health, will celebrate the graduation of its first cohort of 12 Registered Nurse Apprenticeship students. This groundbreaking program, approved by the Texas Board of Nursing, combines academic excellence with paid, hands-on clinical training to address the critical nursing shortage and foster workforce development in the Rio Grande Valley. The event will take place May 1st, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance (118 Paseo Del Prado, Edinburg)

This graduation marks a historic milestone for RGV College and the region’s healthcare workforce. The Registered Nurse Apprenticeship Program equips students with critical skills through real-world training, helping to alleviate the statewide and national nursing shortage.

Traditionally, nursing students faced the challenge of balancing their studies with other employment obligations. However, through this apprenticeship with DHR Health, RGV College nurse apprenticeship students received compensation while pursuing their education and clinical requirements.
