Women’s Tennis Heads To Rice Invitational

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s tennis team is closing its fall season this weekend at the Rice Invitational.

UTRGV will compete Friday through Sunday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. Participating teams include Baylor, Houston, Iowa State, LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UT Arlington, UTSA and the hosting Rice Owls.

The Vaqueros will play a total of six matches through the tournament – three doubles and three singles. Doubles matches will be played to a six-game set and singles matches will be best two out of three with a full third set.

Action begins Friday at 9 a.m. with two rounds of doubles matches in the morning and one round of singles in the afternoon. Saturday, student-athletes will play their third doubles matches in the morning and a second singles match in the afternoon. The invitational wraps up Sunday with a third round of singles matches. The participants will play in compass draws of eight.
