Vanessa Cárdenas Reacts to Bipartisan Introduction of “Dream and Promise Act”

Washington, DC — Today, America’s Voice welcomed the re-introduction of the “Dream and Promise Act,” introduced by Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) and a bipartisan group of House sponsors.

The following is a statement from Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice:

“Standing up for the opportunities and futures of Dreamers, TPS holders, farmworkers, and families is essential and a rare point of consensus on immigration among the American majority. The ‘Dream and Promise Act’ is an important step forward that not only would offer stability and a pathway to legal status for many of these deeply rooted immigrants to fully participate in this nation, but also offer critical protections at a moment the Trump Administration is seeking to enact an indiscriminate mass purge of immigrants, including those eligible for the legal pathways created in this legislation.

This bill is not just of vital importance to the immigrants whose futures would be immeasurably strengthened by its passage, but also to the families, communities and industries who rely on them and are calling for immigration solutions rather than chaos, cruelty and mass deportations.”
