Washington, DC — The following is a statement from Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice, assessing Election 2025:

“Elections across the country demonstrated a clear, broad based rejection of Trump’s chaos and cruelty. Americans are recognizing that his policies on immigration and beyond are making us weaker, poorer and less safe.

For their part, Latino voters just sent Trump a message he can’t ignore: his deportation agenda is backfiring spectacularly. The numbers don’t lie — exit polls and voter interviews show a decisive shift back to Democrats driven in large part by revulsion at his immigration policies (see our preview here).

And in the statewide network exit polls, strong majorities of all voters in California (63%), New Jersey (53%) and Virginia (56%) said that the Trump administration’s ‘immigration actions’ had ‘gone too far,’ with even higher margins among Latinos.

While additional election data and analysis is forthcoming, those of us fighting for a different vision– on immigration and for the nation– should be emboldened and reminded that a majority of Americans stand with us.”
