Los Angeles (U.S.), (EFE) – The HBO platform announced this Tuesday the main cast of its new series based on the Harry Potter books: Dominic McLaughlin will play Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton will bring Hermione Granger to life, and Alastair Stout will portray Ron Weasley.

McLaughlin, Stanton, and Stout were selected from over 30,000 child actors who took part in an open casting held by the platform last fall, in search of new performers for the iconic characters originally played by Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint at the start of this millennium.

“The talent of these three unique actors is wonderful to behold, and we can’t wait for the world to witness their magic together on screen,” said executive producers Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod in a joint statement.

“We want to thank the tens of thousands of children who auditioned. It was a true pleasure to discover the wealth of young talent out there,” they added.

The three selected actors are emerging talents who are beginning to make a name for themselves in the industry. McLaughlin previously appeared in the comedy Grow, while Stanton has stage experience starring in Matilda: The Musical.

In April, HBO confirmed the first actors cast in the series, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as the beloved Rubeus Hagrid.

Other confirmed cast members so far include Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell, and five-time BAFTA winner Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch, according to a statement released by Warner Bros. Discovery.

The series, set to begin filming this summer, promises to be a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books. Each season will be based on one installment of the saga, with plans to extend the production over the course of a decade.
