Summer Of Learning & Fun

The Brownsville Public Libraries are set to offer a summer filled with learning and entertainment, featuring several live presentations aimed at engaging patrons of all ages.

One of the highlights is a presentation by paleontologist BK Bones, who will delve into the Dinosaurs of Texas. “She will tell us about dinosaur fossils that have been found here in Texas,” said Avery Danielson, youth services librarian at the Brownsville Public Library System. This captivating presentation will be held on June 21, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the library’s Main Branch and at 4:00 PM at the Southmost Branch. BK Bones promises to transport visitors back to prehistoric Texas, showcasing the fascinating dinosaurs and other amazing creatures that once roamed the area.

For those intrigued by the art of magic, Magician Oscar Munoz will be performing his spellbinding tricks. “Munoz will delight all with cool, fun magic tricks,” Danielson noted. His performances are scheduled for June 28, 2024, with shows at 11:00 AM at the Main Branch and at 4:00 PM at the Southmost Branch.

Animal enthusiasts will have a special treat when the Gladys Porter Zoo brings some of its animals to the libraries on July 12, 2024. The zoo’s visit will include a session at 11:00 AM at the Main Branch and another at 4:00 PM at the Southmost Branch.

Additionally, American children’s book author Meg Medina will make an appearance on July 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Main Branch. Medina aims to inspire students and families by encouraging them to experiment with book talks, share favorite books, and start conversations that build excitement about reading.

The Brownsville Library System’s Main Branch is located at 2600 Central Boulevard, while the Southmost Branch is situated at 4320 Southmost Boulevard. With such a diverse lineup of events, the Brownsville Public Libraries are set to be a hub of activity and learning this summer.
