STHS Hosting Critical Care Nurses Hiring Event To Fill ICU Positions At STHS Edinburg & STHS McAllen

Seasoned healthcare professionals and recent graduates can learn about the various ICU positions available within the largest integrated network of care in the Rio Grande Valley during STHS’ critical care nurses hiring event

In the United States, nearly six million patients are admitted to intensive care units (ICUs) in hospitals across the country annually, according to the National Institutes of Health, which translates to approximately 15,616 patient admission a day.

Playing a vital role in hospitals, ICUs provide specialized, high-intensity care for patients with a wide range of life-threatening illnesses or injuries requiring intensive monitoring, life support and specialized medical expertise, including severe trauma, heart problems, respiratory or organ failure, sepsis and severe burns.

“ICUs provide critical care for patients who are extremely ill and require close monitoring, strong support and life-saving treatment,” says Adam Copher, Chief Nursing  Officer, STHS McAllen. “Critical care cases require a specially trained medical team, including nurses, to observe them 24/7 and  provide round-the-clock care.”

To effectively care for critically ill patients, ICU nurses must possess a combination of clinical expertise and essential non-clinical skills, including strong critical thinking, communication and technical proficiency, an ability to make quick decisions under pressure, be adaptable, compassionate and work well with a team.

“While rewarding, critical care nursing demands specific personality traits and resilience due to the high-pressure environment and emotional toll,” says Copher.

To expand its team of stellar critical care nurses, South Texas Health System will host a special Critical Care Nurses Hiring Event on Wednesday, July 30, to fill open positions in the ICUs at STHS Edinburg and STHS McAllen, as well as build a team for the soon-to-open Neuro ICU as part of STHS McAllen’s Comprehensive Stroke Center.

  • Registered Nurse ICU Nights (STHS Edinburg & STHS McAllen)
  • Registered Nurse ICU Days (STHS McAllen)
  • Registered Nurse Neuro ICU Days (STHS McAllen)
  • Registered Nurse Neuro ICU Nights (STHS McAllen)
