South Padre Island to Kick Off Texas’ Best Summer with a Memorial Day Weekend of Dazzling Fireworks and Fun in the Sun

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Texas– South Padre Island is known as the Fireworks Capital of Texas, especially during summer. On Memorial Day weekend 2025, the city will kick off the fireworks season with a giant, 15-minute show over the waters of the Laguna Madre Bay on Sunday, May 25th. Making this a festive start to the summer.

“This summer, South Padre Island promises to be the best yet, and there is no better way to celebrate it all than by watching fireworks as we kick off the summer season on Memorial Day weekend,” said Blake Henry, Visit South Padre Island Executive Director. “With plenty of beaches, water sports, and unique activities, visitors will create many memories this summer, and it all begins Memorial Day weekend.”

The Memorial Day weekend fireworks nightcaps begin with shows at Clayton’s on the Beach on Friday and Saturday, May 23rd and 24th, at 9:00 p.m. Additional information about the shows is available here.

On Sunday, May 25th, one of South Padre Island’s biggest fireworks shows of the season will take place in the skies over the Laguna Madre Bay. Beginning at 9:15 pm, this fireworks extravaganza will be choreographed with festive music that can be heard while watching the show from the restaurants and bars located along the bay in the Entertainment District.  Visitors will want to arrive early for what promises to be a spectacular display.  More information is available here.
