Sixteen PSJA ISD schools earn “A” Ratings on 2025 Texas Academic Accountability Ratings

PHARR – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its A-F Accountability Ratings on August 13, 2025. Sixteen Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) schools earned an “A” distinction, the state’s highest letter grade, demonstrating the high-quality education offered to PSJA ISD students, with an additional nineteen campuses earning a “B” rating.

Texas provides annual academic accountability ratings to its public school districts, charters, and schools. The rating system evaluates the academic performance of Texas public school districts, charters, and campuses using a comprehensive set of measures.

The ratings are determined by three key domains: Student Achievement (how well students perform on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness or STAAR, graduation rates, and college, career, and military readiness outcomes), School Progress (how much students are improving academically year over year), and Closing the Gaps (how effectively districts and campuses are reducing disparities among student groups).

The following PSJA ISD campuses earned A’s for the 2025 School Year: Aida C Escobar Elementary, Allen & William Arnold Elementary, Berta Palacios Elementary, Cesar Chavez Elementary, Graciela Garcia Elementary, Marcia R Garza Elementary, PSJA Alamo Building Blocks Academy, PSJA Early Start Pre-K School, PSJA Sotomayor Building Blocks Academy, Raul Longoria Elementary, Audie Murphy Middle School, Austin Middle School, PSJA Collegiate School of Health Professions, PSJA Early College High School, PSJA North Early College High School, and PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School.

“We are incredibly proud of our students, teachers, administrators, and staff for their hard work and dedication,” said PSJA ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alejandro Elias. “These ratings are a reflection of the high expectations we set for student success and the collaborative effort across our district to ensure all students have access to high-quality education and the opportunity to succeed in college and beyond.”

Additionally, 19 PSJA ISD schools earned “B” ratings: Alfred Sorensen Elementary, Amanda Garza Pena Elementary, Augusto Guerra Elementary, Carmen Anaya Elementary, Dr. William Long Elementary, Drs. Reed & Mock Elementary, Edith & Ethel Carman Elementary, Geraldine Palmer Elementary, John McKeever Elementary, Santos Livas Elementary, Vida N. Clover Elementary, Jaime Escalante Middle School, Jesus “Jesse” Vela Jr. Middle School, Kennedy Middle School, Liberty Middle School, LBJ Middle School, Yzaguirre Middle School, PSJA Memorial Early College High School, PSJA Southwest Early College High School.

The TEA’s accountability system serves as both a performance measure and an improvement tool, highlighting areas where schools excel and where additional support may be needed.
