September 2024 Proclaimed as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September 2024 Proclaimed as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

September is a time for many things—back to school, the first hints of fall, and now, thanks to the City of Mission, a time for raising awareness for a cause that affects countless families across the country. We are proud to announce that the City of Mission has officially proclaimed September 2024 as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!

This month, we are coming together as a community to shed light on the realities of childhood cancer, honor the courage of young warriors battling this disease, and support the families standing beside them every step of the way. In recognition of this important cause, we encourage everyone to wear gold or yellow throughout September. Gold represents the courage, strength, and resilience of children fighting cancer and serves as a powerful visual reminder of our shared commitment to ending childhood cancer.

Join Us in the #MissionToEndChildhoodCancer!

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with the Greater Gold Foundation in our united effort against childhood cancer. Through this collaboration, we aim to provide greater support to those affected and amplify our impact in raising awareness and funds for critical research and support services.

Save the Date: September 8th at the Mission Event Center

To kick off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we invite you to join us for a special event on September 8th at 6:30 p.m. at the Mission Event Center (200 N Shary Rd, Mission, TX). We will gather for a community walk, a heartfelt show of solidarity with the children and families currently facing this challenge. This walk is more than just a journey around the block; it’s a step towards a brighter future for all children impacted by cancer.

How You Can Make a Difference

Your participation, whether through wearing gold, sharing this cause on social media, or joining us at the event, can make a meaningful difference. Together, we can raise awareness, foster a sense of community, and support the children and families in our area who are bravely fighting this disease.

Let’s make a difference together! Join us in the #MissionToEndChildhoodCancer and show your support for the courageous children and their families. Every step we take brings us closer to a world where no child has to face cancer.

Together, let’s shine a light on childhood cancer and take strides towards a cure. See you on September 8th!
