“Rompiendo el Cielo” IMAS debut
The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) proudly presents its current exhibition, “Rompiendo el cielo,” showcasing the groundbreaking works of American artist Uriel Landeros “Conquista.” This thought-provoking exhibition is on view from September 18, 2024, to January 19, 2025.
“Rompiendo el cielo,” which translates to “Breaking the Sky,” explores themes of defiance, transformation, and the quest for freedom. Landeros’ work delves into concepts of identity, cultural heritage, and migration, while offering a compelling perspective on the representation of Indigenous communities in contemporary art. The exhibition’s highlight is a striking series of portraits of influential figures who have “broken the sky” through their exceptional achievements and contributions to society.
In addition to Landeros’ evocative pieces, the exhibition features original artworks from the artist’s private collection. These include works by celebrated artists such as Pablo Picasso, Banksy, Andy Warhol, Julian Schnabel, Tony Shafrazi, Rupert Smith, and Joseph Beuys — making this exhibition a rare convergence of artistic brilliance.
Do not miss this unique opportunity to immerse yourself in an exploration of art, culture, and identity. Visit IMAS for “Rompiendo el cielo” and experience an exhibition that challenges and inspires.
An opening reception takes place on Thursday, September 26, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The event is free for IMAS Members and $10 per member guest. Membership can be purchased in advance or at the door. Pre-registration is recommended.
