RGV Hispanic Chamber Celebrates Success of Inaugural LGBTQ+ Keynote Luncheon

WESLACO, Texas — The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce celebrated the success of its inaugural LGBTQ+ Keynote Luncheon, “Building a Thriving Village – Supporting a Healthy & Engaged Community,” held Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at 1806 S. International Blvd. in Weslaco.
Entrepreneurs, small business owners, startup founders and community leaders from across the Rio Grande Valley came together to network, share ideas and strengthen community ties.
The highlight of the event was a keynote address by Houston City Council Member Mario Castillo, who shared insights on leadership, advocacy and building inclusive communities.
“It was an honor to speak at the first RGV Hispanic Chamber LGBTQ+ Conference and join a community that’s building a more inclusive and thriving Texas through representation, leadership and partnership,” Castillo said. “I encourage others to join in this work, because our economy grows stronger when everyone has a role in it.”
In addition to the keynote, the luncheon featured two interactive panels. Panel 1: Business Development & Entrepreneurship – Authentic Branding: Marketing Your Business with Pride explored strategies for promoting LGBTQ+-owned businesses while staying true to their brand identity. Panel 2: Workplace Inclusion, Career Growth & ERG Leadership focused on creating inclusive workplaces, advancing professional development and establishing effective Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
The keynote luncheon and panels underscored the RGV Hispanic Chamber’s commitment to fostering diversity and supporting small business growth through inclusive programming and community partnerships. Attendees engaged in meaningful networking and shared strategies to build stronger, healthier and more engaged communities across the region.
The event was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, including Valley AIDS Council, the luncheon’s main sponsor, as well as Guillermo Bautista-Ramirez, Allstate Insurance, and Elevents: Event Rentals and Event Design.
The chamber looks forward to hosting more initiatives that bring people together, promote inclusivity and support economic and workforce development throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
