Reliant Donates $5,000 to Help McAllen Residents Stay Cool and Save on Energy

McAllen, Texas – As temperatures soar across the Rio Grande Valley, Reliant is extending its statewide Beat the Heat initiative to McAllen, donating $5,000 and launching three public cooling centers to help residents stay safe and comfortable this summer.

Through this program, Reliant is partnering with local community centers to offer air-conditioned spaces, refreshments, and energy-saving tips for residents seeking relief from the heat. The cooling centers are open to the public and aim to provide a welcoming environment where individuals and families can rest, recharge, and learn how to conserve energy at home.

Cooling Center Locations and Hours:

  • Lark Community Center – 2601 Lark Ave.
    Mon–Thurs: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. | Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. | Sat: 9 a.m.–3 p.m. | Sun: Closed
  • Las Palmas Community Center – 1921 N 25th St.
    Mon–Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. | Sat–Sun: Closed
  • Palm View Community Center – 3401 Jordan Rd.
    Mon–Thurs: 8 a.m.–8 p.m. | Fri: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. | Sat: 9 a.m.–3 p.m. | Sun: Closed
