PSJA ISD Staff Unite for 2025-2026 Convocation: Not All Heroes Wear Capes

EDINBURG – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) officially kicked off the 2025-2026 School Year with its annual Convocation, bringing together more than 5,000 employees on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at the Bert Ogden Arena.

This year’s powerful theme, “Not All Heroes Wear Capes,” honored the dedication, compassion, and tireless commitment of PSJA ISD staff who make a difference in the lives of our students every day. The event served as both a celebration and a reminder of the vital role educators and staff members play in shaping the future of countless students.

The program featured performances by PSJA ISD students, showcasing the district’s commitment to the arts. Attendees witnessed performances by the PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School (ECHS) Golden Legacies Dance Team, the PSJA ISD Unified Band, the PSJA Southwest ECHS Orchestra, Choir, and Band, and Cheerleaders from all four of PSJA ISD Comprehensive High Schools.

In addition to the student performances, district leaders shared motivational messages, reflecting on the accomplishments of the past school year and introducing new and ongoing initiatives to ensure continued academic success in 2025-2026.

PSJA ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alejandro Elias highlighted several of the district’s major accomplishments during his remarks.

“I’m proud to share that PSJA ISD has a nearly 98% teacher retention rate, one of the highest in the region. We are also one of the highest paying districts, and among the top in the state with the most TIA Designated Teachers. That doesn’t happen by chance. It’s the result of intentional investment and a shared culture of purpose,” said Elias.

A highlight of the event was keynote speaker TMoore The Motivator, the world’s first “superhero” motivational speaker. Known for his dynamic presentations, TMoore shared his personal story of resilience and perseverance, reminding our educators that Not All Heroes Wear Capes.

The annual Staff Convocation is a tradition that brings teachers, administrators, and support staff from across the district to launch the school year with inspiration and unity. With a shared vision and dedication to excellence, PSJA ISD staff are ready to make 2025-2026 another year of innovation, growth, and success for all students.
