PSJA ISD hosts 2025 New Teacher Breakfast

District Celebrates Historic Teacher 98% Retention Rate
PHARR – Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD(PSJA ISD) welcomed new teachers to the district during its 2025-2026 New Teacher Welcome Breakfast held August 11, 2025, at the PSJA ISD Napper Development & Support Center.
The event served as an opportunity for district and campus leaders to greet incoming educators, celebrate the start of their journey with PSJA ISD, and highlight the many resources and benefits available to support their success.
During the breakfast, over 40 attendees were welcomed by district leadership and heard remarks from PSJA ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Alejandro Elias and PSJA School Board President Diana Serna. Both leaders emphasized the district’s commitment to fostering a collaborative environment where teachers can grow professionally and make a lasting impact in the lives of their students.
PSJA ISD Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Dr. Rebecca Garza, also addressed the new educators, sharing key information about the district and the numerous benefits available to staff, including:

Two PSJA Employee Clinics with a 0% copay for all visits for employees and family members enrolled in the district’s medical insurance plan.

100% district-paid base health insurance for all employees.

Texas Education Agency Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) district, a program that provides eligible teachers with the opportunity to earn six-figure salaries. Currently, 74% of PSJA ISD teachers hold a TIA designation.

A 98% teacher retention rate, reflecting the district’s culture of support and employee satisfaction.
“We are excited to welcome these passionate and talented educators to our PSJA Family,” said Dr. Rebecca Garza. “Our goal is to provide them with the tools, resources, and support that they need to provide our students with the best learning opportunities possible.”
Gustavo Miranda, who will be teaching at PSJA Southwest Early College High School, shared his thoughts about joining the district.
“I’m very excited to begin my first year at PSJA ISD. Knowing that PSJA ISD invests so much into their teachers makes me even more motivated and excited to start the year and give my best to my students,” said Miranda.
