PSJA ISD Educators Spark Innovation at 5th Annual Virtual Technology Conference

PHARR – Over 700 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) educators registered for the 5th Annual Virtual Technology Conference hosted by the PSJA Information Technology Department on August 16, 2025.
The annual virtual conference equips PSJA ISD staff with the technological expertise needed to enhance student achievement, while also motivating them to integrate the latest digital tools into their teaching practices.
Registered participants explored the latest in educational technology, gained valuable insights, and connected with fellow educators. The conference offered opportunities to discover new ways to increase classroom engagement, try out innovative tools, and continue growing their EdTech skills.
This year’s keynote speakers were Kristin and Joe Merrill, also known as The Merrills. Passionate about bringing EdTech to life in their First and Fourth Grade classrooms, The Merrills share more than 20 years of combined teaching experience. Together they design engaging lessons that leave lasting impressions on their students.
Although they teach different grade levels, they share the same belief: learning should always be interactive. This philosophy inspired them to author The InterACTIVE Class and Flipgrid in the InterACTIVE Class (Elevate Books EDU), where they reimagine traditional teaching strategies and show how technology can be used to support every learner.
“Our conference theme, ‘We Ignite EdTech Heroes,’ has truly inspired educators to design learning experiences that seamlessly connect technology with our PSJA ISD curriculum,” said PSJA Technology Director Senyda Elizondo. “Education is always changing, and this conference gives our educators a chance to explore new tools and ideas that make learning more engaging, accessible, and effective for our students.”
Along with the Virtual Technology Conference, PSJA staff have been busy gearing up for the new school year by taking part in a variety of August trainings and events, including CARE Customer Service Standards, Leadership Residency, the Best Practices Conference, and more.
