Precinct 4 Commissioner Torres to Host a Streetlight Celebration at Colonia San Cristobal Phases I & II

EDINBURG – Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres will host a Streetlight Celebration to mark the successful installation of 45 new streetlights in Colonia San Cristobal Phase I & II.
The project, which benefits 603 residents across 83 lots, is part of the Hidalgo County Unincorporated Subdivision Streetlight Program, aimed at enhancing safety, security, and quality of life for residents in historically underserved communities.
“We are so happy to celebrate Colonia San Cristobal’s public lighting project! Thank you to everyone who signed, shared our Strides For Fany (SFF) Facebook posts, or contributed one way or another, especially our amazing community leaders that really made it happen by collecting the signatures, hosting meet-ups at their homes, contacting residents through the phone and the list goes on,” stated founder of Strides for Fany Nahiely Garcia.
“To all the Hidalgo County staff that guided and supported us each step of the way, thank you. Everyone’s hard work is now reflected in both colonias (Colonia Dos Vientos Estates & Colonia San Cristobal). Our neighborhoods have a brighter future.”
The initiative was made possible through close collaboration with Strides for Fany, a local nonprofit organization that led grassroots efforts to mobilize residents and advocate for the project.
“This celebration is a testament to what we can achieve when the community and local government work hand in hand. The new streetlights not only brighten the roads—they brighten lives by improving safety and creating peace of mind for families,” said Commissioner Torres. “We are proud to partner with Strides for Fany and applaud the dedication of the residents who made this happen.”
