Paint Mission Beautiful

The Paint Mission Beautiful initiative is a community-driven project aimed at enhancing the appearance of homes for elderly or disabled Mission residents, all at no cost. To qualify for participation, residents must meet certain criteria:

• They must be a resident of Mission.
• The homeowner must be 60 years old or older, or of any age with a permanent disability.
• The home must be owned by a single family.
• The household must have a low income.
• The house should be a frame (wooden) structure or have brick veneer with sidings.
• The home must not require major repairs.

Keep Mission Beautiful (KMB), an educational non-profit organization, spearheads the Paint Mission Beautiful project. It collaborates with businesses, civic organizations, volunteers, and religious groups to undertake exterior painting projects for eligible homeowners. Here are some key aspects of the project:

• Volunteers recruited from schools, congregations, businesses, and civic groups will carry out the painting.
• Sponsors will generously donate paint and supplies.
• Homes must be located within Mission city limits to be considered.
• Selection of homes for painting is based on various factors, including financial need, the condition of the house, and the availability of volunteers.
• A dedicated volunteer team will be assigned to each house.
• KMB staff will liaise with homeowners to make necessary arrangements and finalize details.
• Dates for preparation and painting will be coordinated with homeowners upon approval.
• Any able-bodied person aged 18 or older residing in the home must contribute to the painting effort.

Through the collective efforts of volunteers, sponsors, and community partners, Paint Mission Beautiful aims to uplift the spirits and living conditions of elderly or disabled homeowners in Mission.
