Our Daytime Sky

Our Daytime Sky

Astronomy is not just for night owls! Join us and discover some of the unique features of the daytime sky and the science behind them. Ever wondered what clouds are made of, why the sky is blue, or why the moon appears during the day? These questions and more will be answered in this interactive program designed for all ages.

Start by learning about the beautiful sights that can be seen in the daytime sky while in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment. Then, step outside with a park ranger to observe some of these phenomena in real life. You’ll also learn about safe solar viewing practices and hear the stories the sky has to tell.

Meet at Park Headquarters in the Meeting Room. Bring water, weather-appropriate clothing, bug spray, and sunscreen. The event will take place on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park. Registration is required and can be completed online here. The entry fee is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under get in for free. Park entry is free with a Texas State Park Pass.

Events and programs are subject to cancellation or modification due to weather. Please contact park staff for more information and the latest updates.
