NAIA Softball All-American and Pitcher of the Year
Brownsville native and Veterans Memorial ECHS alumni, Cassandra Valdez, has made her hometown proud by leading her college softball team to victory in the 2024 National Championship. Valdez, who attended Veterans Memorial ECHS, returned to her alma mater this afternoon for a Meet and Greet session to celebrate her remarkable achievement.
A Triumph for Cassandra Valdez
Cassandra Valdez’s outstanding performance on the softball field has brought honor not only to herself but also to her community. She played a pivotal role in securing the national title for her college team at Our Lady of the Lake University.
National Recognition
Valdez’s talent and dedication didn’t go unnoticed. She was named the NAIA 2024 National All-American and Pitcher of the Year, a testament to her exceptional skills and leadership on the field. This achievement marks a historic moment for Our Lady of the Lake University, as Valdez becomes the first student-athlete from OLLU to be named a national player of the year in the school’s history.
