NAIA Softball All-American and Pitcher of the Year

Brownsville native and Veterans Memorial ECHS alumni, Cassandra Valdez, has made her hometown proud by leading her college softball team to victory in the 2024 National Championship. Valdez, who attended Veterans Memorial ECHS, returned to her alma mater this afternoon for a Meet and Greet session to celebrate her remarkable achievement.

This achievement marks a historic moment for Our Lady of the Lake University, as Valdez becomes the first student-athlete from OLLU to be named a national player of the year in the school’s history.
