Mission Fire Department to Host Turkey Fry Safety Demonstration Ahead of Thanksgiving
MISSION, TEXAS – Thanksgiving is a time for family, gratitude, and good food—but it’s also one of the most dangerous days of the year for home fires. To help keep the community safe, the Mission Fire Department will host a turkey fry safety demonstration at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at Central Fire Station.
The event will highlight the dangers of improperly frying a turkey and provide essential tips to prevent cooking-related fires—one of the leading causes of home fire injuries during the holidays.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Thanksgiving Day sees three times more home cooking fires than any other day of the year. In 2022 alone, an estimated 1,610 cooking fires were reported nationwide—a staggering 399% above the daily average.
Our Media partners are invited to attend and capture the live, controlled demonstration, which will include a visual turkey fry fire and interviews with firefighters offering valuable safety tips and fire prevention reminders!
