Mission CISD Welcomes Raul Luna as Principal of Veterans Memorial High School

Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is proud to announce the appointment of Raul Luna as the new Principal of Veterans Memorial High School. With 23 years of experience in education, including 10 years as a teacher and 13 years in various administrative roles, Luna brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of success to this important leadership position.

Luna’s career has spanned a wide range of responsibilities, from teaching to leadership positions such as Assistant Principal, District Instructional Coach, Elementary Principal, and Student Services Director for Graduation and Student Recovery. He has been recognized nationally by the National Center for Excellence in Science and was nominated for the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.

Throughout his career, Luna has demonstrated his dedication to improving student outcomes. He has successfully closed performance gaps, achieved significant math improvements, and driven campus transformations. His leadership has led to reductions in dropout rates and increases in graduation rates, showing his commitment to student success.

Luna has also been deeply involved in teacher development, having served as a TEA Reading Academy Facilitator for HB3, as well as a participant in the Region One RECESS Grant for Instructional Coaching. His focus on research-based instruction and fostering growth through effective teaching strategies has been instrumental in empowering educators and enhancing educational communities. Additionally, Luna has participated in leadership initiatives through the Harvard University Principal Center and TEA Committees, further strengthening his leadership skills.
