Mission CISD celebrates over 30 Summer Graduates from Mission High School and Veterans Memorial High School

MISSION, TEXAS– Summer may be over, but for more than 30 Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) students, a new chapter is just beginning. Families filled the Veterans Memorial Performing Arts Center for an intimate and heartfelt Summer Commencement Ceremony honoring the Class of 2025 summer graduates from Mission High School and Veterans Memorial High School.
Unlike the larger spring graduations, this smaller ceremony carried a uniquely personal feel as families, teachers, and friends gathered to celebrate students who demonstrated resilience and determination. Each of the graduates completed their remaining credits through Mission CISD’s summer program—an opportunity that allowed them to reach this milestone and officially graduate alongside their peers.
“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Mission CISD Leadership, and myself, we are so proud of you and your hard work,” said Dr. Cris Valdez, Mission CISD Superintendent of Schools. “We know your journey to get here wasn’t always easy, but with your family and our teachers by your side, you persevered. Today, you remind us all what determination and support can achieve.”
Graduates proudly walked the stage as their names were called by Mission High School Principal José E. Mejía II and Veterans Memorial High School Principal Raúl Luna, who both offered words of encouragement to the students.
“Every path to graduation looks different,” said Principal Mejía. “What matters is that each of you found your way here—with persistence, hope, and the support of those who believe in you.”
Principal Luna added, “You’ve shown that summer isn’t just a time for catching up. It’s a time for moving forward. We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next.”
The ceremony concluded with applause, smiles, and a shared sense of pride as Mission CISD reaffirmed its commitment to providing diverse pathways to success. Events like this serve as a reminder that every student’s journey is worth celebrating—and that perseverance truly pays off.
