Mission CISD Awarded Over $30K for Special Education Programs

MISSION, TEXAS– It was a morning filled with cheers and community pride as Mission CISD joined the Wonderful Citrus Run for Autism. On September 20, 2025, Mission Consolidated Independent School District (Mission CISD) proudly joined the 4th Annual Wonderful Citrus Run for Autism at Bentsen Palm Community Park. Students, staff, and community members came together to run, cheer, and show their support for autism awareness and acceptance.

Mission CISD is deeply grateful to Wonderful Citrus for their remarkable generosity. This year, Wonderful Citrus presented a donation of $34,250 to both Mission CISD and Sharyland ISD. This contribution will strengthen the district’s Special Education programs while creating new opportunities for students.

“We are deeply grateful for the continued generosity of Wonderful Citrus and for the community partnerships that make events like this possible,” said Dr. Cris Valdez, Superintendent of Schools. “This donation will touch the lives of our students in a meaningful way. It is an investment in their future, ensuring every child has the opportunities and support they need to thrive.”

The funding provided by Wonderful Citrus will enhance Special Education programs by supporting new initiatives, resources, and services designed to meet the diverse needs of Mission CISD students.

“This gift from Wonderful Citrus allows us to invest in tools and programs that directly benefit our students with special needs,” said Francisca Cruz, Executive Director for Special Education. “It means providing more targeted support, opening more opportunities, and creating greater possibilities for every student we serve.”
