Miami skyscrapers shone with Gloria Estefan’s image to celebrate her 50 years in music

Miami (EFE) – The city of Miami is lighting up the skyscraper with the world’s tallest digital panel in tribute to the remarkable 50-year musical career of Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan and the release this week of her new album, Raíces.

The 60-story, 213-meter-tall Paramount Miami Worldcenter skyscraper features an impressive 91-meter digital screen displaying an image of the nine-time Grammy-winning artist, casting a glow over the city that embraced her as one of its most beloved figures.

The tribute also coincides with the release of her new album, Raíces, whose title track is topping Billboard magazine’s Latin Pop, Latin Airplay, and Tropical Airplay charts across North and South America.

The building’s superstructure lights up with the title track Raíces, while an animated mosaic inspired by Andy Warhol’s style—featuring iconic images of Estefan—adds an artistic flair to the show.

The building’s façade even transforms into a colorful collage of disco dancers, evoking the energy and spirit of Estefan’s rise to fame in the 1970s and 1980s as part of the Miami Sound Machine, which she co-founded with her husband Emilio Estefan.

Daniel Kodsi, developer of the Paramount Miami Worldcenter and CEO of Royal Palm Companies, revealed that the skyscraper boasts a sophisticated LED lighting system that “cost $3 million to design and install, and took a team of 12 technicians three years to complete.”

“The system includes eight kilometers of cable connecting 13,400 light-emitting diodes (LEDs), integrated into 10,000 window frames, and can produce a combination of 16 million colors,” he explained.

Kodsi noted that despite its stunning visual impact, the cost of lighting the building each night is only $34.

The building’s lights will continue to shine in honor of Estefan from this Thursday until May 31, 2025, lighting up the night sky for five minutes at the beginning and end of each hour, from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.
