McAllen Police Department to Observe Radio Moment of Silence in Memory of Fallen Officers

McAllen to remember five fallen police officers

WHO:             McAllen Police Department

WHAT:           McAllen PD Communications Message: Peace Officers End of Watch Radio Silence

WHEN &        Friday, July 11, 2025             3:29 p.m.

WHERE:         McAllen Police Department Dispatch, 1601 N. Bicentennial Blvd.

                        McAllen City Hall, 1300 W. Houston Ave.

WHY:              July 11, 2025 will mark the fifth year anniversary of the line-of-duty deaths of McAllen Police Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr. and McAllen Police Officer Ismael Z. Chavez. Additionally, the McAllen Police Department has lost three other officers over the years, including: Officer Federico R. Saenz, End of Watch: March 26, 1933; Officer Rosalin Suarez, Jr., End of Watch: May 19, 1981; and Officer Reynaldo V. Lopez, End of Watch: July 10, 1993.

In their honor and remembrance, the McAllen Police Department will observe a Peace Officers End of Watch radio silence for 38 seconds.

At 3:29, p.m., McAllen PD Communications will tone-out all channels and announce:

“All units standby for announcement.”

“All units prepare to copy: 

“At this moment on July 11, 2020, Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr. and Officer Ismael Z. Chavez responded to a Call-For-Service at the 3500 Block of Queta Ave. Officer Garza and Officer Chavez lost their lives responding to that call for service.  They are two of five McAllen Police Officers killed in the line of duty.” 

“The City of McAllen and the McAllen Police Department, in honor and memory oof fallen Officer Federico R. Saenz, Officer Rosalin Suarez, Jr., Officer Reynaldo V. Lopez, Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr. and Officer Ismael Z. Chavez marks this moment with radio silence.”  

“In remembrance of our fallen brothers Officer Federico R. Saenz, Officer Rosalin Suarez, Jr., Officer Reynaldo V. Lopez, Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr. and Officer Ismael Z. Chavez, please stand by for a moment of silence.”

Moment of Silence:  0:38 seconds, the sum of 7/11/20

“Officer Federico R. Saenz, Officer Rosalin Suarez, Jr., Officer Reynaldo V. Lopez, Officer Edelmiro Garza Jr. and Officer Ismael Z. Chavez made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives to police work.”

“With this moment of remembrance, we honor them and pray for all that continue their mission every day thereafter.”  

“All units resume normal traffic on all channels.”
