Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that senior Ilana De Assis, of the volleyball team, is the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week.

Assis led the Vaqueros in kills in both matches last week and captured her eighth double-double of the year.

On Thursday, Assis recorded 20 kills and 13 digs in Thursday’s match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

On Saturday, Assis had 17 kills on .536 hitting, six digs and one ace in Saturday’s match against Lamar.

On the season, Assis leads the team in kills with 322.

The Vaqueros are headed to Louisiana this week with matchups against New Orleans on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and Southeastern on Saturday at 12 p.m.
