Inaugural Members of the Edinburg PD Teen Academy

A graduation ceremony was held to honor the dedicated and enthusiastic teens who participated in the first-ever Edinburg PD Teen Academy. This week-long program offered a unique opportunity for young individuals to gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of what it takes to be a police officer.

Throughout the academy, the participants were engaged in a variety of practical exercises and learning sessions. They practiced traffic stop techniques, an essential skill for ensuring public safety on the roads. Driving exercises allowed them to experience the precision and control required in various scenarios that officers might face while on duty.

One of the highlights of the academy was the field sobriety tests, where teens used drunk goggles to simulate the impairment caused by alcohol. This exercise was not only informative but also emphasized the importance of responsible behavior and the challenges officers encounter during sobriety checks.

Additionally, the participants delved into the fascinating world of forensics and crime scene investigation. They learned how to collect and analyze evidence, gaining insights into the meticulous work that goes into solving crimes and ensuring justice is served.

The Edinburg PD Teen Academy was more than just a learning experience; it was an opportunity for these young individuals to build teamwork, leadership skills, and a sense of community. The commitment and effort they demonstrated throughout the week are truly commendable.

We are incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication shown by these teens. Their participation in the academy not only provided them with valuable skills and knowledge but also fostered a greater appreciation for the responsibilities and challenges faced by law enforcement officers. Congratulations to all the graduates of the Edinburg PD Teen Academy!
