Imagination in Action: Mission CISD team advances to Destination Imagination Globals

MISSION, TEXAS– From Mission to Missouri—Mission CISD’s “Sensational Six” are preparing to represent Veterans Memorial High School at the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2025, happening May 22–25 in Kansas City.

The team earned 4th place in their category during the state-level competition held in Dallas on March 29, qualifying them to advance to the international level. They competed in the Improvisational Challenge, where students respond to spontaneous prompts that test teamwork, creativity, and communication.

Victoria Olivarez, a senior at Veterans Memorial High School, reflects on the profound impact Destination Imagination has had on her final year.

“This singular club has allowed me to not only grow academically but socially as well,” said Olivarez. It has given me the opportunity to come out of my shell and create long-lasting memories with my peers.”

WHAT IS GLOBAL FINALS?

Each May, Destination Imagination’s top-tiered teams from around the world gather in Kansas City, Missouri, to participate in Global Finals—the world’s largest celebration of creativity.

The Destination Imagination Global Finals is the culminating tournament for each season of Destination Imagination’s Challenge Experience, with the top teams from around the world competing in their respective Team Challenges.

“This group of students has truly grown together throughout the year,” said Mabeline Rodriguez, UIL Coordinator and team sponsor at VMHS. “Watching them support one another, push through challenges, and shine with creativity has been an unforgettable experience.”

According to Destination Imagination, the global community is united by a core belief that when students have the freedom to grow and collaborate without boundaries, their confidence explodes, and the world opens to them in new ways. They enable this transformation by providing challenges rooted in STEAM subjects that inspire unique solutions through the use of the creative process.
