Honoring Our Heroes in McAllen

The McAllen Heritage Center is proud to host a special event dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. “Veterans Then & Now” invites all local veterans, regardless of age or rank, to participate in a heartfelt tribute through a complimentary photoshoot and an optional interview session. This event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate and commemorate the remarkable contributions of our veterans.

Scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 10 am to 3 pm, the event will take place at The McAllen Heritage Center, located at 301 S. Main Street. Veterans interested in participating can make an appointment or request more information by contacting 956-687-1904. Voicemails are accepted.

Each participating veteran will receive a complimentary 8×10 professionally printed photograph, with additional print packages available for purchase at discount prices. To ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience, complimentary refreshments and snacks will be provided throughout the event.

The essence of “Veterans Then & Now” lies in its ability to capture the strength, dignity, and pride of our veterans through professional photoshoots. These photographs will serve as timeless keepsakes, honoring the service and sacrifice of those who have served. Beyond the photoshoot, veterans are invited to share their personal stories, reflections on their service, and thoughts on the nation in an optional interview. These interviews aim to preserve the invaluable experiences of our veterans for future generations.

The McAllen Heritage Center’s mission is to deeply honor our veterans, recognizing their courage and commitment. By documenting their stories and capturing their portraits, the center expresses its gratitude and ensures that their legacies live on. This event is a small token of appreciation for their selfless service.

In addition to being keepsakes for the veterans and their families, the photographs will be converted into poster size and displayed at the McAllen Heritage Center during select months. The display may also travel to other appropriate sites, allowing a broader audience to witness and honor the contributions of our veterans.
