Hidalgo County Warns of Continued Jury Scams

Some residents of Hidalgo County continue to receive fraudulent phone calls from scammers who claim they failed to appear for jury duty and threaten them with arrest. The callers, impersonating court officials or other law enforcement officers, will insist that their victims either pay over the phone with a credit card or deliver cash or prepaid credit cards to a particular location. THIS IS A SCAM.

The District Clerk’s Office, law enforcement officials or court/county officials will NEVER demand payment over the phone at any time.
