Five Baseball Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-District Honors
RIO GRANDE VALLEY – Five baseball student-athletes at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), including juniors Steven Lancia and Hank Warren and seniors Jack Lopez, Nico Rodriguez and Kade York, are part of the Academic All-District® baseball team, as announced by College Sports Communicators on Tuesday, recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his current institution. The cumulative grade-point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. Nominees in graduate school must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or above both as an undergraduate and in graduate school.
Nominated student-athletes must have participated in at least 90% of the institution’s games OR started in at least 66%of the institution’s games. Pitchers must have at least 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched.
Lopez graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management while Rodriguez graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in May. Lancia is majoring in kinesiology. Warren is majoring in exercise science. York is majoring in accounting.
