Explore Nature Through Stories: Reading with a Ranger Event

Escape into the enchanting world of nature with Reading with a Ranger, a captivating storytelling event hosted at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park. Join us on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am for an immersive experience that combines the magic of storytelling with the wonders of the great outdoors.

Led by our knowledgeable ranger, TC Riddle, this event promises a delightful journey through nature-themed stories, fascinating facts about wildlife, and perhaps a few tall tales thrown in for good measure. Gather at the La Familia Nature Center near the park entrance, where the adventure begins.

Designed for children from Pre-K to 3rd grade accompanied by an adult, Reading with a Ranger offers an engaging opportunity for young minds to connect with nature in a fun and educational setting. After the storytelling session, there will be ample time for questions and further exploration of Bentsen SP with our ranger.

Here are a few details to keep in mind:

Meet: La Familia Nature Center near Park Entrance.

Suggested Audience: Pre-K to 3rd Grade with an adult.

Bring: Water and weather-appropriate clothing. We recommend sunscreen and bug repellent for added comfort.

Registration: Not required. Simply show up and immerse yourself in the experience.

Cost: The entry fee is $5 for adults, while children aged 12 and under enjoy free admission. (Park entry is also free with a Texas State Park Pass.)
