Education leaders from across the state and nation attended PSJA ISD’s Cradle to College Conference
MISSION – Education leaders from across the nation and state convened at Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s (PSJA ISD) Cradle to College Conference, held on November 3-5, 2025. Now in its second year since returning in 2024, the conference brought together district leaders, educators, and higher education representatives from nearby districts and across the country—including from Arizona, Maryland, and Indiana—to share innovative strategies that empower students for lifelong success.
PSJA ISD Superintendent Dr. Alejandro Elias welcomed attendees emphasizing the district’s mission to expand opportunities and transform lives through education.
“What sets PSJA apart is our strong commitment to every student. From our youngest learners in early childhood classrooms to our high school seniors, we meet students where they are—and help them rise. All really means all. That is what Opportunities for All looks like in action,” said Dr. Elias. “We thank everyone for making the drive, the flight, and the journey from across our state and across the nation this week. Your presence here shows that this work matters everywhere, and together, we can transform lives from cradle to college and beyond.”
Throughout the three-day conference, participants engaged in collaborative discussions and breakout sessions highlighting PSJA ISD’s nationally recognized programs such as Early College, Dual Language, Pathways to Independence, and the College, Career & Technology Academy. These initiatives reflect the district’s commitment to providing Opportunities for All.
Dr. Linda Uribe, PSJA ISD Executive Officer for College Readiness, credited the district’s success to the collaboration between our PSJA superintendent, counselors, teachers, leaders, parents, and partners.
“Every face represents a promise, a promise we make to our students and our community. From Cradle to College, we are committed to building a future where every child graduates ready for college and career. This is the heart of our journey and the work that lifts us all.” Dr. Uribe said.
With more than 30 breakout sessions across six tracks, educators had the opportunity to explore the best practices that strengthen college readiness, advance PSJA’s Cradle to College vision, and elevate students toward high-wage, high-skill careers. Sessions on our Early College Program highlighted the impact of ensuring that every student graduates high school, college and career ready. Each session showcased innovative models, effective strategies, and systemic approaches that continue to drive PSJA’s commitment to opportunity and completion for all.”
Attendee Dyann Mack, Deputy Director of Academics for Harford County Public Schools in Maryland, attended with her team to strengthen existing initiatives and enhance the educational experience for their students.
“Our goal is to elevate the strong practices already in place. Hartford County Public Schools has a solid foundation, and we are renewing our commitment to our Pre-K through second-grade learners while continuing to strengthen our CTE programs and expand dual-enrollment opportunities.”
PSJA ISD’s recognized approach continues to attract national educational leaders seeking to learn more about the district’s efforts to engage learners from cradle to college, support career pathways, and ensure college readiness for all students.
PSJA ISD is an open-enrollment district serving more than 29,000 students across the Rio Grande Valley and welcomes students from anywhere in the region.
