Edinburg CISD student advances to national spelling bee competition

EDINBURG, Texas (ValleyCentral) — An Edinburg student placed 1st place at the Regional Spelling Bee and advanced to nationals.

Caleb Giuoco competed on Saturday at the Regional Spelling.

Giuoco advanced to the National Scripps Spelling Bee where he will represent South Middle School.

In a social media post, the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District congratulated Giuoco on his big win.

“We are extremely proud of Caleb for this outstanding achievement,” the school district said.

Giuoco will be competing in the national competition in Washington D.C. in May.
