New York (EFE). Federal prosecutors asserted that singer Cassie Ventura, the primary victim in the sex trafficking trial of rapper Sean Combs—known as Diddy—spent half her weeks locked in hotels having non-consensual relationships with male sex workers.

“Half of each week, Cassie would be in a dark hotel room, drugged and awake for days, performing unwanted sexual acts with male sex workers,” prosecutor Ashley Johnson told the jury during opening statements.

Johnson asserted that during these non-consensual sexual encounters, which Diddy allegedly called “freak offs” and “wild king nights,” the artist forced her to perform sexual acts in front of him while he masturbated and recorded the encounters.

He also forced her to take various drugs, including MDMA and ecstasy.

The prosecutor insisted that Combs met Ventura, an R&B singer, in 2006 when she was 19 and he was 36. That year, Ventura signed to the rapper’s record label, Bad Boy Records, and they subsequently began a relationship.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Diddy began assaulting Ventura shortly after they began dating and, likewise, introduced her “very quickly” to these “freak-outs” and threatened to publish the recorded sexual encounters.

“If Cassie didn’t do what he wanted, there were consequences. He hit her to let her know he was in charge (…) He could destroy Cassie’s career by showing those videos,” Johnson argued.

The prosecutor also informed the jury that the trial will focus specifically on two victims: in addition to Cassie, a woman using the pseudonym “Jane” will testify before the judge. She is a single mother who began a relationship with Combs in 2020 and was also allegedly forced to participate in these “freak-outs” against her will.

She also indicated that a woman who was Combs’ personal assistant and who was also “sexually assaulted” by him will appear, as well as several sex workers who allegedly participated in these encounters.

“Diddy,” who appeared in court today wearing a white sweater, is charged with five counts: one count of conspiracy for the purpose of extortion; two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and two counts of transportation for the purpose of pimping.
