DHR Health Promotes Early Detection with $99 Mammogram Special

DHR Health Promotes Early Detection with $99 Mammogram Special

Edinburg, Texas: In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, DHR Health is offering a $99 mammogram screening special from October 1–31, 2025, as part of its ongoing commitment to women’s health and early detection. The screening includes digital 3D (three-dimensional) tomography imaging with a radiologist interpretation. To take advantage of this special, a referral from a health care provider is required. Women 40 years or older with no symptoms are eligible for the $99 screening.

To enhance the accuracy of early detection, DHR Health uses 3D mammography, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis. Unlike traditional 2D mammograms, 3D imaging captures breast tissue in thin layers, allowing radiologists to examine it in greater detail. The result is clearer images, improved detection of small cancers, and fewer unnecessary callbacks.

“Regular mammograms play a vital role in detecting breast cancer early, when it is most treatable,” said Dr. Lisa Chapa, breast surgical oncologist at DHR Health. “By staying consistent with screenings, women take a proactive step toward protecting their health and well-being.”

Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancers among women, affecting 1 in 8 women, and early detection is key to improving outcomes. Regular mammograms can identify breast abnormalities long before symptoms appear, increasing the likelihood of successful treatment and recovery.

The American Cancer Society and the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) recommend that women begin annual screening mammograms at age 40. Screening frequency may vary based on personal or family history and other risk factors, so it is important to talk with a health care provider to determine the most appropriate screening plan.

The $99 screening mammogram special is available at multiple DHR Health imaging locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley, including McAllen, Edinburg, Weslaco, and Brownsville. For those who had their prior imaging performed elsewhere, DHR Health recommends bringing previous breast images studies, including mammogram, ultrasound, or MRI, along with the reports, to help radiologists compare and expedite the interpretation of the exam.
