DHR Health Brownsville unveils new mammogram unit

DHR Health Brownsville held a pink themed ribbon cutting ceremony today to unveil its newest mammogram unit, aligning with “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” which begins in October. The event emphasized the importance of regular breast cancer screenings and showcased the advanced technology now available for Cameron County residents.

“At DHR Health Brownsville, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our patients, and this new mammogram unit is a testament to that commitment,” said Marissa Castaneda, DHR Health Senior Executive Vice President.

Guest speakers at the event included Dr. Karen Brooks, an experienced general and breast surgeon who has been serving the Cameron County community for well over 20 years. Special guests took guided tours of the hospital and mammogram suite and were reminded about the significance of early detection, which dramatically increases survival rates.
